These Apple Products Including iPhone 3GS, will Be Discontinued
Apple will soon eliminate some discontinued products, which means these products will no longer enjoy maintenance support from Apple retail stores and Authorized service providers. As stated in internal documentation, some models like MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, AirPort Express and iPhone will be discontinued from 30th, June.
As for MacBook Air, the relevant models cover 11-inch and 13-inch Mid 2011, meanwhile, the 13-inch, 15-inch and 17-inch Late 2011 MacBook Pro and the 17-inch Mid 2009 MacBook Pro are also in the list.
Generally, Apple will remark such changes on its website and internal documentation, rather than inform its clients. And Apple normally starts to transform relevant products to halt production state about five to seven years after the production is stopped. For at this time, it is hard to find some relevant parts, and the maintenance becomes difficult. Once a device is marked as discontinued, Apple official channel will no longer accept users’ request for maintenance.
It is worth mentioning that in Turkey and California, some of these products will become obsolete rather than discontinued, as shown below. In Turkey and California, Apple will offer limited support in two years for discontinued production elsewhere.
